The Central Nebraska Economic Development District (CNEDD) is a 14-county regional development organization that encourages cooperation between local government officials, community-based organizations and the private sector. The District provides the link between federal and state programs, and the local level where development actually occurs. CNEDD attained recognition as an official Economic Development District by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) in 2003. CNEDD is the largest economic development district with the lowest population density per square mile in Nebraska.
