In the latest edition of its “Top States for Business” study, financial network CNBC has ranked Nebraska fourth best overall — the same position held by the state in 2013. According to CNBC, “The Cornhusker State offers one of the nation’s friendliest regulatory climates. Its economy is strong, and so is its quality of life. But the state trails in innovation and access to capital.” In its analysis, CNBC scored all 50 states on 56 measures of competitiveness and 10 broad categories — based on input from business groups, economic development experts, companies and the states themselves. Nebraska received high marks in the categories of “business friendliness” (No. 3), “quality of life” (No. 8), and “cost of doing business” (No. 10). Nebraska has now cracked CNBC’s top 10 four years in a row.
